{"id":4968,"date":"2026-09-11T11:09:47","date_gmt":"2026-09-11T10:09:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wellingboroughecogroup.org.uk\/eco\/?p=4968"},"modified":"2026-09-11T11:09:50","modified_gmt":"2026-09-11T10:09:50","slug":"winners-at-make-a-difference-awards","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wellingboroughecogroup.org.uk\/eco\/2026\/09\/11\/winners-at-make-a-difference-awards\/","title":{"rendered":"Winners at Make a Difference Awards"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Wellingborough Eco Group won the Environment Award at last nights BBC Radio Northampton Make a Difference Awards for their work reducing waste going into landfill &#8211; among other projects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Jonathan Hornett, the director of the group, said: &#8220;What we do makes a huge difference to local people and the local environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;It&#8217;s nice to be that incubator for different projects but also other organisations throughout the county.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;The award means the group has been recognised on a countywide level for doing good things in our town and the surrounding area,&#8221; Jonathan said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"600\" height=\"600\" src=\"https:\/\/wellingboroughecogroup.org.uk\/eco\/wp-content\/uploads\/Welly-Eco-Winnerss.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4969\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Montage showing highlights from the Make a Difference Awards evening.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The other winners are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The Volunteer Award: Allison WalkerBray, Wellingborough Gateway Club<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The Young Hero Award: Louie Roe, fundraising for Young Epilepsy<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The Great Neighbour Award: Sylvia Parkes, free community meals at the Phoenix Pub<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The Fundraiser Award: Rust Bucket Rally<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The Active Award: Step Forward with Lewis CIC<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The Animal Award: Flo the Horse, Horses for Good<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The Community Group Award: Northamptonshire Search &amp; Rescue<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Nominees included Ilse from the Never Alone Project and Daylight Centre, who were also there as finalists!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Thank you for a great night BBC Radio Northampton, thank you to the who team from the station, including Suki and Sarah-Jane who organised interviews and the nominations. Thank you to the presenters Annabel, Graham and Preacher the Storyteller plus Northampton Rock Choir for a great night.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It&#8217;s great to be recognised on a county level and by the BBC.
