Shop Zero are part of Revolution Zero, who are all about zero hunger, zero waste. Day in day out, their revolutionaries collect food that would otherwise end up in landfill, from shops, manufacturers and farms across the Midlands to nourish people within the community!
They are located at the former URC church in The Headlands , Northampton and can be followed at Shop Zero on Facebook. Usual openings are Tues and Thurs 1-3 pm and Saturday 11-1. They have around 15 items for £5 including fresh fruit and veg, ambient food and dairy – all rescued by their volunteers from supermarkets etc.
Their social impact is both environmental and to provide nourishing food to the community. The food would have gone to waste. They are a social enterprise and our proceeds pay our fuel and rent costs etc as well as our community work, including their food for the vulnerable and their new community gardening scheme.
They have also responded to the Covid-19 outbreak by delivering their packages too. This project is called Bags of Good, and helped those most in need of food aid in, delivering to the most vulnerable members of the community in Northampton, during the coronavirus outbreak.
Through lockdown the Bags of Good service supplied food banks and provided many parcels a week. Their proceeds mean they still are able to support vulnerable families through partner referrals.
