Town Centre Litter Picked for the Great British Spring Clean!

Wellingborough Eco Group, Wellie Wombles & Wellingborough Town Council

Massive thank you to the 54 litter picking heroes who took part in our Two Hour Tidy Up of Wellingborough Town Centre for The Keep Britain Tidy Great British Spring Clean today. A record turn out and huge amount of litter tidied up!

We litter picked 70 bags full of litter, plus cleared two shopping trollies, various bits of wood, a clothes dryer, a chair and a TV. Thank you all for making our Town Centre tidier.

Wellingborough Town Council once again joined Wellingborough Eco Group and Wellie Wombles for our biggest litter pick of the year! This month we returned to Wellingborough Town Centre, where we have held this special litter pick for the last three years.

We set up our recycling station on Market Street at 9:30 to litter pick between 10am-12 midday. We provided the litter picking equipment, including disposable gloves, and North Northamptonshire Council took away the litter we picked. Great to see lots of young people and local councillors litter picking together, including the Carnival Court who were treated to lunch by the mayor!

Thank you to Molly, Louise, Aysia, Talisha, Jessica, Layla and Angelina, Freddie and Georgina, Jonathan, Eileen and Joy, Tom, Joan, Roisin and Alexis, Edeltraud, Chrissie, Viv, John, Chris, Annabel, David, Kelly, Josh and Freya, Chris, Michaela and Paul, Jason, Mary and Aoife, Sue and Albie, Brenda, Bernice, Gen Kitchen MP and Mat, David, Graham, Mayor Raj, Tricia and John, Sam, Allan, Gill and Bob, Sarah, Raz, Adam and Maria, Paul, Archie and Sarma. Well done everyone 👏

Thank also you to Castello Lounge and their wonderful staff for once again providing free teas and coffees for our litter pickers, during and afterwards, and thank you to the Estates Team at North Northamptonshire Council for collecting what we picked. Another great Great British Spring Clean, thank you everyone for your support!

Tree Planting in Swanspool Gardens this Saturday!

Wellingborough Eco Group Nature Rangers

For our final tree planting session of the year, we are planting lots more trees, this time behind Swanspool Pavilion! We will have tea and coffee available, plus hand washing facilities. Meet at Swanspool Pavilion this Saturday from 10am.

We will be planting whips again with North Northamptonshire Council and everything will be fully funded by the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.

Come and plant a tree!

This time we will be planting around 300 trees. They will be a mixture of native hedge species. We are planting between the wall and car park/old greenhouse site.

We will have 20 tree planting spades but if any volunteers could bring their own spades again that would be helpful in case we run out. Come and plant a tree, all welcome, bring your spades if you can and join in from 10am this Saturday 21st March.
