On the last Saturday of every month, Wellingborough Eco Group carries out a two hour tidy up with numerous volunteers. We litter pick an area that was chosen by the previous months litter pickers.
This re-started following the lifting of Covid restrictions last year for The Great British Spring Clean at Croyland Gardens, and we’re back there again on Saturday 28th May. Our Recycling Station will be in Morrisons Car Park from 9:30 with litter picking between 10am-12 midday.
Everyone (without Covid-19 symptoms) is welcome. Wellingborough Norse lend us the equipment, so everything is provided. They also take away the litter we pick.
For example, even with a relatively small team of 9 litter heroes in December, we collected over 50 bags of litter, a huge pile of wood from a fence, a TV, a table and two chairs, baby toys, two tyres and carpet at Shelley Park and from the paths into Park Farm Industrial Estate.
If you would like to join us at our next litter pick please do keep an eye on our blog, forum or social media outlets. If you would like to do some litter picking during lockdown, you can individually or with friends and family with Wellie Wombles.
Wellie Wombles
If you want to tidy up, Wellie Wombles is a new litter picking group from Wellingborough Eco Group to help you. You can also share pictures and descriptions with each other of what you have picked up and share your hauls with Northants Litter Wombles.
Welllingborough Eco Group can even lend you the equipment and give you the bags! This service is available on our ‘Tidy UP Tuesdays’ from 2 until 6pm at Glamis Hall’s Community Room and six days a week at Wellingborough Library from 9am until 6pm. Find out more on our Wellie Wombles page or on the Wellie Wombles Facebook Group.
