Medicine Packet Recycling

Today’s Advent Calendar window opens for Superdrug and their medicine packet recycling programme. With little packs, big impact, as their slogan; they turn your empty medicine blister packets into donations for Marie Curie, when you recycle them at their pharmacy counter!

Once collected, the empty blister packets are sent off to Terracycle, separated by polymer type and cleaned (if necessary). The material is then extruded into plastic pellets to make new recycled products. Marie Curie receives a donation of £1 for each kilo of empty medicine blister packets collected. Any brand of empty medicine blister packets are accepted.

You can take back your blister packs to the Wellingborough branch in the Swansgate Shopping Centre, plus they also recycle batteries and electrical equipment (WEEE Recycling) so you can drop off those at the same time. Whilst you are there check out their cruelty free and vegan products, or find out more about their pledges to ‘Our Planet’ at www.superdrug.com/dgfs/our-planet

Terracycle also have similar schemes for other everyday packaging, including crisp packets and toothpaste tubes. In Wellingborough we have a location to drop off these at too, find out more on Tuesday’s Advent Calendar…
