Wellingborough Eco Group Community Allotment

Join us this Wednesday for a Great Big Working Party at our at our Community Allotment for The Great Big Green Week. Meet at the gates of Ladywell Allotments at the end of Hillside Road at 9:30am or call Jonathan on 07311 705705 to get in before 2:00pm

Our Community Allotment is there to give people the chance to share skills and to grow plants. The site was cleared in 2020 and is now a user-friendly space to grow fruit, vegetables and other plants to benefit the community.

Anyone can volunteer at the Community Allotment, you don’t have to know anything about gardening and tools will be provided. Join our community for more preparation and planting including weeding and tidying, come and grow with us this Wednesday!

NOUGHTS AND CROSSES

Noughts and Crosses Polish community group provide a local network group for Polish families, offering wellbeing sessions, organising events to raise awareness and understanding of culture and heritage, providing tuition in polish language, arts, crafts and music sessions and environmentally friendly projects. Join them this Wednesday at ECO HUB 6-8pm.

Wellingborough Eco Group & Wellie Wombles

It’s Joyful June, where we do good things for you and for the environment, and it’s even bigger for The Great Big Green Week. We are open this Tuesday 10-6 ECO HUB Glamis Hall. Do join us at:

🟡 Happy Café is our friendly food reuse cafe has free hot food, tea and coffee all day (first two hours is quiet and relaxed). It’s also an Action for Happiness Northants Happy Cafe and this month we’re sharing some mindfulness tips and playing games.

🔵 Wellingborough Swap Shop where we will have a new toys section plus rails of clothes for you, 100’s of books, DVDs and household items. Everything is available for swaps or a donation to the group.

🟢 Food Sharers will have fresh veg, fruit, bread and salads from Co-op, Redeem Foods and community friends. We have a few bargains too, including tins of food and more!

🟣 SUB (our School Uniform Bank) works just like Wellingborough Swap Shop, but includes school uniform and essentials with Greatwell Homes.

🔴 Tuesday Tidy Ups with Wellie Wombles. Come to borrow our litter pickers and hoops for a tidy up, bags are free! Plus pickers and hoops for sale.

There are always lots of great things, plus outside games if weather allows and always a free cup of tea at #ECOHUB, Glamis Hall this and every Tuesday, do pop in!

Wellingborough Eco Group Nature Rangers, Wellie Wombles & Eco-Crafters

Wellingborough Eco Group is running a whole week of activities to inspire you again for the Great Big Green Week, and for the third day, this Monday there’s lots to join in with:

FREE RANGE

Our Fortnightly Monday sessions resume with a treat at our Community Allotment, as we will be sewing seeds and planting seedlings, meeting at 10am to help on our plot at Ladywell Allotments, out 10:30 till 1:30 to stop for lunch and discussions until 2pm.

These sessions are lead by Grow Wild Outreach and Wellingborough Eco Group, and they are open to everyone. Grow Wild Outreach will also offer the Monday sessions to those who need assistance and will provide a fully supervised service at a cost.

Don’t be nature strangers, be Nature Rangers!

Join us this Monday for a Free Range, 10am at our Community Allotment at Ladywell Allotments to continue to sew seeds and plant seedlings on our plot 10:30 till 1:30, let’s see what we can do!

C.L.E.A.N.

Wellingborough Library will have a display about what Wellie Wombles for The Great Big Green Week, including a C.L.E.A.N. Presentation. The presentation has now been shown to hundreds of local school children, and by having it in the Library from this Monday until Saturday will hopefully educate and inspire more people to be more self conscious about littering.

And in the evening, if you like to chat and love to stitch, join our Eco-Crafters for a Sew Social!

Town Garage Sale this Sunday!

8th June, 10AM–1PM

Join us for a community-wide event this Sunday as residents across town open their garages for a morning of local treasure hunting and neighbourly exchange. The Town Garage Sale will run from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM, providing an excellent opportunity to explore a wide array of pre-loved items and unique finds.

At ECO HUB, as part of our week long activities for The Great Big Green Week, we are joining in and having a massive clear out, garage sale style! Come for lots of bargains including clothes from 50p, toys from 10p, books and DVDs from 50p, household items and much more…

The Great Big Green Week – Family Sensory Walk

Wellingborough Eco Group’s Nature Rangers are excited to announce that we are kicking off The Great Big Green Week with a Family Sensory Walk in partnership with North Northamptonshire Council’s Active Families on Saturday 7th June!

Join us for an hour of exploring your senses in nature. Ideal for ages 3 plus, children must be accompanied by a responsible adult at all times, please also ensure that you are wearing appropriate clothing and footwear.

We will be set up from 10am, in Kilborn Park Play Area, off of Kiborn Road, Wellingborough NN8 5YB (see map below). We will at 10:30 be taking a short guided walk through the woodland area. From 11:30, there will also be some activities in the park.

Vegan Picnic in the Park!

Join Northants Veggies and Vegans for a Vegan Picnic on Sunday 1st June, lunchtime 12-2. Bring your favourite dishes and share with other veggies and vegans! The picnic will be on the main field at Irchester Country Park, look out for a couple of blue gazebos and a few chairs.

Join in, meet new veggie/vegan friends, enjoy great meat free food, see you in the park!

Litter Pick Mill Road

Wellingborough Eco Group and Wellie Wombles

This Month’s Two Hour Tidy Up takes place on Saturday 31st May on Mill Road and in the surrounding area. We will be setting up our Recycling Station from 9:30 at the green space opposite Gordon Road, for litter picking between 10 and 12. We will be litter picking the whole road, the communal gardens and the nearby streets.

This location has been chosen by one of our Wellie Wombles. As a group we have tidied up this area as part of other local litter picks, but because we have never focused on this road there’s a lot to do. See map below for the location:

To help us and keep us safe at this and future litter picks, Wellingborough Eco Group have purchased some litter pickers, hi-vis vests and safety equipment including road signs, so everything is provided but please bring your own gloves if you can. Free cold drinks plus tea and Coffee will be available, hand sanitiser will also be available, do join us if you can, ALL WELCOME!

Litter Picking The Embankment this Saturday!

Join us on Saturday, 26th April, for our monthly Two Hour Tidy Up, as we return in April again to litter pick The Embankment Park and up to Chester House, where we will also be joined by Nene Rivers Trust, who will be starting from Chester House and working their way to The Embankment.

We have litter picked this park before a number of time, including for our very first litter pick in 2020 and last April (see header image) but it needs doing again, and many of the areas around are heavily littered. We have litter pickers and hoops to borrow, lots of bags, and tea, coffee and snacks, all we need is you. Please bring your own gloves.

Our Recycling Station which will be set up at 9:30 for litter picking 10am-12pm, on the car park just off The Embankment road. Do join us to make Wellingborough cleaner, safer and greener. Everyone is welcome, see you on Saturday Morning!

Earth Day

Wellie Wombles & Wellingborough Eco Group

We are hosting special EARTH DAY Tuesday Tidy Ups on April 22. Do join us in with local companies who have been invited to a clear up of either their local area, or with us at ECO HUB, Glamis Hall, to litter pick on the Queensway, focusing on the Shelley Road area and its paths. Litter pickers, hoops and bags are available.

Our group picks will start from 10am and continue till noon. We hope that you will then join us for a social gathering to meet like minded individuals, meet new friends and exchange ideas at ECO HUB and the rear of Glamis Hall where a covered area will be erected where refreshments will be available. Litter pickers and hoops will also be available for individuals 10am to 6pm, so anyone can join in.

We are also hosting a special EARTH DAY Wellingborough Swap Shop with bargain buckets to save great pre-loved items, plus Food Sharers and Happy Cafe will also be open all day too (10am-6pm). Come for bargains or to litter pick for EARTH DAY this Tuesday, and stay for refreshments and much more; see you at ECO HUB this Tuesday!

Come to our EASTER EGG HUNT!

ECO CLUB FOR KIDS & KÓŁKO I KRZYŻYK

The kids are off, so what do you do? Why not come meet the Easter Bunny with Wellingborough Eco Group this Good Friday, 18th April, and have some eggciting Easter fun with us.

We have a cracking day planned with stalls full of games, drinks and snacks, Easter Bonnet making for £2, and our annual Easter Egg Hunt for just £2! We will have lot’s of things like crafts and drinks in ECO HUB and outside we will have a few gazebos up with games and food.

The Easter Bunny will be leading the Easter Egg Hunt outside too around Glamis Hall, so everyone will be safe and be fun for all! And perhaps best of all, you’re invited! Come and join in the fun with our Eco Club for Kids and Noughts and Crosses groups, see you and the Easter Bunny this Friday 11am-1pm!
