Glamis Hall for All and Wellingborough Eco Group hosted a parliamentary hustings event for Wellingborough held at Glamis Hall Community Centre on Thursday 27th June 2024 at 7.00pm. Sixty people came to the hall and over 100 joined the live stream for this two hour session. Unfortunately two of the candidates were hard to hear, so we have enhanced the recording, the edited video of the event is now available on YouTube and on this page.

The hustings offered the opportunity for local residents from the area to put a wide range of questions to four of the six candidates wishing to be our new MP on 5th July 2024. The debate was opened by Marion Turner-Hawes and chaired by Father Ben Lewis from St Marks Church. Doors opened at 6:30 where refreshments were also available. The four candidates were:
- Jeremy Brittin – SDP
- Ben Habib – Reform
- Gen Kitchen – Labour
- Paul Mannion – Green Party
David Goss from The Conservative Party, who had previously confirmed that he was attending, was unable to come because he had a visit from a leading member of his party to accommodate at the last minute; and Christopher Townsend from The Lib Dems also did not attend because he had a long standing commitment, but did provide a statement that was read out.
Glamis Hall is located on Queensway Park, and just off of a cycle path; the W1 bus also stops on Goldsmith Road just down the road from Glamis Hall. Free car parking is also available.
This was a free event, no booking required, you could just turn up, and if for whatever reason you could not be there in person, we also live streamed the hustings on YouTube and on our website. We felt that it went really well and hope that you find this hustings and recording useful to help you decide how to vote on 5th July.
Thank you everyone that came, and those who asked questions. Thank you to the candidates that took part. Thank you to Marion Turner-Hawes for organising the event and Father Ben Lewis for chairing it. Thank you Glamis Hall and volunteers from Wellingborough Eco Group for hosting this. Thank you all for supporting Wellingborough General Election Hustings 2024!
